Okay. Parenting is hard for sure, but this is easy. Listening to Stroller Coaster. Stroller Coaster is a podcast hosted by Lynn Smith. She's a mom and former news anchor for NBC and the show's co-hosted by an improv comedian. Stroller Coaster is a place to be entertained to laugh over crazy parenting moments, and I know I for one, have definitely learned a few new things as I listen along too. Stroller Coaster is an award-winning, top ranked parenting podcast created by Munchkin, the most loved baby lifestyle brand in the world. And the show covers topics that I know are also of interest to you, like how to stay connected to your kids once they're in daycare and school, or what your child is trying to communicate to you when they're crying, and how to hold onto your patients as a parent. You can follow Stroller Coaster on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast. Go give them a listen for a great time. I, for one know I've really been enjoying the show and I always need something new to listen to. Check out Stroller Coaster. I think you'll enjoy it as well.
AquaTru (1m 4s):
Working on some personal goals for 2025 and drinking more water is top of the list for me. I am the worst about water. I can work from the second my kids leave from school until they get home, which is just under eight hours. And I realize I don't even stop to take a bathroom break most days. That is horrible. I know, I know I'm not hydrated enough 'cause I don't like the taste of water that much. Enter AquaTru. AquaTru purifiers use a four stage reverse osmosis purification process that removes 15 times more contaminants than ordinary picture filters, which is awesome, but you end up with water that actually tastes good. AquaTru has water purifiers to fit every type of home from installation free countertop purifiers to higher capacity under sink options that even have a wifi connected purifier and mineral boost options. And the AquaTru filters are affordable and long lasting so there's no change in the filters every two to three months because the AquaTru filters they last from six months up to two years. And just one set of filters from their classic purifier, it makes the equivalent of 4,500 bottles of water. So it works out to less than 3 cents a bottle. Not to mention the environmental impact that you have by not wasting tons of extra plastic. We just installed ours and as a former water hater, I do have to say the AquaTru water tastes fantastic and you don't have to worry about PFAS or other harmful contaminants. I had it delivered straight to my home and it was really easy to set up. AquaTru comes with a 30 day money back guarantee. It even makes a great gift and listeners of this podcast can get 20% off any AquaTru purifier when you go to aquatru.com. That's A-Q-U-A-T-R-U.com and enter the word weaning at checkout. Katie Ferraro (3m 5s):
In the first time I saw this highchair at the trade show, I was like, wait a minute. This footrest design, it kind of blew my mind. It's so much different than anything else you've ever seen, like whereas the Tripp Trapp has like that slat design, we have to pull the footrest out and then lower it down one and a half inches to the next slat and you have to use an Allen wrench, which is kind of a pain to do it. The NOMI has a knob, but you have to use two hands to adjust the footrest up and down, but it's easier than the Tripp Trapp. The cybex limo footrest, it has this like built in bar under the footrest that you flick out with your wrist. You can increase or decrease the footrest height. It also works for the seat height plus the seat depth changes. And again, all of this without tools, it is just such an incredible design.
Katie Ferraro (3m 48s):
I couldn't get over it. Hey there, I'm Katie Ferraro, registered dietitian, college nutrition professor and mom of seven specializing in Baby-Led Weaning here on the Baby-Led Weaning with Katie Ferraro podcast. I help you strip out all of the noise and nonsense about feeding, giving you the confidence and knowledge you need to give your baby a safe start to Solid Foods using Baby-Led Weaning. Welcome back. In today's episode, we're talking about the Cybex limo three in one highchair. I'm gonna do a review. Is It Worth the Hype? Okay, this German engineered highchair, I cannot contain my excitement. It is a standout for sure.
Katie Ferraro (4m 30s):
It has exceptional quality. There's thoughtful design and it's totally under the radar here in the United States and I've been using the Cybex Lemo for a few months daily at this point, and I can confidently say that it outshines a lot of standard American high chairs. So let's take a closer look at what makes this highchair so unique, what the standout features are, and then whether it might be the right highchair choice for your family. Now, I like to start out each of these mini training episodes with a Baby-Led Weaning tip of the day. If you're one of those people that likes having the thing that nobody else has, the Cybex limo is a fantastic highchair for Baby-Led Weaning. It is well designed and literally nobody else has it. Now, I first saw this highchair at the ABC Kid Show in Las Vegas and it blew me awake because their head of global training, his name is Marvin Becker.
Katie Ferraro (5m 17s):
He was there at the show and he showed me the highchair. He was so knowledgeable about this highchair. I was like, dude, did you design this? He's like, no, but I'm in charge of like global sales for it. And that was a little surprising to me because Cybex, like a lot of baby brands, they're all about their strollers and their car seats. They actually don't even really seem to prioritize the sale of the high chair in the United States. In fact, they're, I'm not an affiliate for Cybex. I just love this high chair and the person who's in charge of the affiliate's like, nah, it's not like really a big deal to the United States for us. And it's like, I wish it would be because I can't believe that more people don't know about this highchair. And after having used it now, I absolutely love it. So I want you to hang tight because even though you might shy away from the highchair, when you see the initial price tag I'm gonna share with you the one must have accessory that you attach to this high chair that no other Baby-Led Weaning high chair brands have yet.
Katie Ferraro (6m 5s):
And I think it's gonna make you reconsider. So let's talk about the name Cybex Limo. Cybex is the brand. It's a big brand in Europe, but you've probably seen a lot of SBE car seats with your friends or around the United States. I'm not that familiar with their strollers, but maybe you guys have them. I don't know, stroller stuff and like kind of changes with the wind it seems like. But it's called the limo three in one highchair. Now limo apparently means less is more. So it's LEMO. That's according to an external source. The brand itself is never publicly said that, but I do hope it's true because I think that's cool and less is more. And when it comes to high chairs, less is more like there are literally so many gimmicky features on fancy brand high chairs that are so asinine that you don't need this.
Katie Ferraro (6m 48s):
Cybex has none of them. Okay, now it's called a three in one highchair and I feel like a lot of brands are doing this like, oh, it's a grow with you highchair. It's a five and one, seven and one. It's like, dude, I want my highchair to be a highchair. Like I don't need it to be two other things. But what are the three things that the SX apparently is? It definitely is three different things. First, it's a highchair. So when you buy it as a highchair configuration with the baby set and the tray for feeding, you can start feeding your baby around six months of age. The tray comes standard with it. So it's not like the Tripp Trapp in the Nomi where you have to buy the tray separately, but you can take the tray off and pull your baby up to the table safely because it has the baby set that restrain them along with a five point harness. So it's great for Baby-Led Weaning, but it also works if you have a counter height or a bar height table 'cause you're gonna need that tray.
Katie Ferraro (7m 32s):
'cause of course the high chairs don't reach up that high. Or if you like to eat outside or kind of move your baby around your house to dine in different parts of the house, then the tray is gonna work great. First thing it is is a high chair for infant feeding. Around six months of age is when it's safe to start Solid Foods. Secondly, it can be a standalone high chair, so like a toddler chair with an adjustable footrest and seat height. And we're gonna talk a little bit about the really unique design of those. But you can basically use it for bigger kids and then it's also a regular chair. So it converts to a chair that you can sit in as an adult yourself. Now what are the features that you're interested in? If you're doing Baby-Led Weaning and you need a high chair, number one, first and foremost, adjustable foot rests. Okay, this like weeds out the majority of high chairs, at least in the United States market with a safe Baby-Led Weaning high chair.
Katie Ferraro (8m 15s):
We want your baby's feet resting flat on a solid foot plate that helps stabilize their core and support a safe swallow. Now for safe highchair positioning, we want your baby's back. It needs to be flat. Okay? So their waist should be at a 90 degree angle, their knees at a 90 degree angle and their ankles at a 90 degree angle. I call that the three by 90 setup, or some people call it ninety ninety ninety, okay. So the seat design is important. We don't want any like huge bump or piece of plastic between the baby crotch like you see in a lot of cheaper American brand high chairs because you can't push your baby's bottom forward so they get the knees hanging over. Okay? A lot of American high chairs, they're built for two year olds. So when you put your six month old in there to start Solid Foods, their legs stick straight out. Well, you can't get their knees to hang over the seat if there's a big, big plastic bubble in between their legs.
Katie Ferraro (8m 59s):
So we're looking for a chair that has a less invasive crotch restraint and the cybex limo three on one definitely has that with their baby set. Now, ideally for Baby-Led Weaning, you do wanna be able to pull your baby up to the table to join you from their first bites. So I love the design of the limo that allows you to do that. Adjustable seat height is also nice too because once your baby grows out of the baby set, which in this chair it's like around 15 months of age, most babies are gonna probably not be fitting in that babysit anymore. You take the baby set off, you want a chair that works for toddlers as well. Okay? We want it to work for preschool kids and older age kids so that you don't have to keep buying chairs. One thing to consider is that even after your child is no longer a toddler, if you buy the right high chair, you'll continue to use that chair at mealtimes with their feet resting flat.
Katie Ferraro (9m 46s):
It's still important for older kids to support a safe swallow, but once your kids start going to school and you factor in homework and art and drawing, having their feet resting flat really, really helps kids concentrate and focus. I've got a couple kids that are particularly fidgety and I noticed that whenever we set them in their Tripp Trapp or their Nome high chairs, those that also have adjustable foot rest in our house, it helps them to kind of settle down and concentrate. It also helps it mealtime to have a chair that actually fits them. So we want a chair that grows with them and I do think the limo definitely does that. They advertise it as being from six months to 99 years, it can hold up to like a couple hundred pounds. So it's definitely a chair that will grow with your child. Let's talk a little bit about the aesthetic of the Cybex limo three in one.
Katie Ferraro (10m 27s):
It's very elegant, it's sleek, it doesn't fold down, but that doesn't matter because you are buying this to be your everyday highchair. The Cybex limo Highchair was apparently inspired by the iconic designers, Ray and Charles Eames. So the limo chair has this like really sleek, minimalist aesthetic. It's Sealy integrates into modern home interiors. It's pretty compact. It does not dominate or overtake your room. So it works for like a lot of different living spaces. Now what about the colors? Okay, so currently the Cybex Lemo in the United States is available for sale in five different colors. There's an all white version pearl pink. There's a sand white, which is like the all white. It's just that it has a brown seat, brown foot rest and brown chair back.
Katie Ferraro (11m 9s):
But the legs are white and the baby set and the tray is white. There's also a stone blue one. I have the limo in stone blue, but it's not blue. I have the limo in this color. It's more like awkward or turquoise. It's gorgeous. It's a really cool different colored high chair. I got it. 'cause it like definitely pops when you're making videos and stuff. A lot of high chairs in the US that are white or gray or black. I love that you can get this high chair in a bunch of different colors. It also comes in a black color. It's called stunning black. If you're like a fan of black furniture, you're gonna love this thing 'cause it is a really nice looking chair. Now what about the assembly? Okay, one of the things I love about the limo, there are four screws and no tools. Now they say you can put it together in three minutes on some of their product materials. I did it with my intern.
Katie Ferraro (11m 49s):
It took us about 10 minutes, but that's not very long. Like that's pretty awesome for a high chair. So very easy assembly and set up. Hey, we're gonna take a quick break, but I'll be right back.
Airdoctor (12m 2s):
Okay, I wish this were not true, but as someone who works in front of a computer or a phone all day, I know that of the average 20,000 breaths that Americans take a day, 90% of those and 90% of our time is being spent indoors. And the indoor air that we breathe can be up to a hundred times more polluted than outdoor air according to the EPA. And indoor air pollutants can lead to respiratory symptoms like sneezing, congestion, scratchy throat, or even more serious health problems like lung and heart disease. So what can we do about it? Well, air doctor has thought a lot about this and they've put their technology to work for you. The air doctor is an air purifier that filters out 99.99% of dangerous contaminants so that your lungs don't have to. So this includes allergens, pollen, pet dander, which is a huge problem in my house as well as dust mites, mold spores, and even bacteria and viruses. Air doctor comes with a 30 day money backed guarantee. So if you don't love this product, you can just send it back for a refund minus shipping. If you head to air dr pro.com and you use the promo code weaning, you can get up to $300 off air purifiers. And this is exclusive to podcast listeners, but you will also receive a free three year warranty on any unit, which is an additional $84 value. You can lock up this special offer by going to A-I-R-D-O-C-T-O-R-P-R-O.com. That's airdrpro.com and use the code weaning W-E-A-N-I-N-G To get started today.
Katie Ferraro (13m 43s):
As far as the accessories go, there's a bouncer and people ask me about the bounce baby bouncer of a highchair. I'm like, who cares? Because a baby who needs to be in a bouncer isn't safe to start Solid Foods and usually you start looking or thinking about a highchair when your baby's six months of age. But a lot of families are like, oh, I'm gonna get the bouncer. So with my next kid, then I'll put the baby bouncer on the highchair. Okay, if that works for you, do it. It's an extra a hundred dollars for the bouncer the baby set, the one that we use for infant feeding, it comes standard with a three in one high chair. So it's built into the base price. There is one other accessory though that I think is the most innovative thing I've seen in Highchairs in a while. Cybex made for an extra a hundred dollars. You can turn this highchair into a learning tower.
Katie Ferraro (14m 24s):
So a learning tower, if you have toddlers, you know what it is. It's this big piece of bulky equipment that you buy or make and you put it up next to the counter so that your toddler can help you cook, which is really frustrating, but it's like amazing for toddlers to help you cook because we know that kids who are involved in meal prep are more likely to eat those meals. But also like You, don can't sit your kid on the counter or they'll fall off and standing on a chair is dangerous. So people go and buy a separate learning tower, but this is so cool because you can just pop this accessory onto the top of your Cybex limo chair and turn the chair into a learning tower without having to buy a separate piece of furniture or equipment that eats up your whole kitchen. So I absolutely love that accessory. I know that some other high chair brands are working on a learning tower attachment, but I wanna say that cyber already has it.
Katie Ferraro (15m 6s):
It's a little bit hard to find, like they don't have it on their Amazon website, you have to actually go to their website and buy it. But I'll put all the links to these chairs and I mentioned I'm not an affiliate for limo, like they're, they're just not interested in promoting this chair in the United States. But I am interested in you guys having this chair because I freaking love it. Now, the weight of the chair, it's a little bit on the heavier side. The high chair with the tray in the baby set is 20 pounds. What I would compare this to, it's like it feels like driving a Mercedes like yes, it's, it's German engineering. So maybe that's like very basic to make the comparison of a Mercedes, but it's just like if you've ever driven Mercedes, it like feels heavier than your standard issue American sedan. It's not like too heavy. You can move around. It has these cool built-in wheels to the back base that like you tip it back, it rolls so easily.
Katie Ferraro (15m 47s):
Like everything about this is just so well designed. Weight comparison, the Cybex limo three in one is 20 pounds. The Tripp Trapp and the Mockingbird high chairs, they're both 17 pounds. The Nomi is 13 pounds, so it's like a smidge on the heavier side, but I would not say it's a deal breaker at all. It's like it's a good heavy, you're like, this is a well-made high chair. There's some other brands that have tried to knock it off that are lighter and you can feel like, eh, this just doesn't feel as well made. And that's true. I would say the Cybex limo is certainly one of the most well-designed high chairs out there. What about safety comparisons? So the Cybex limo three in one high chair does have an adjustable foot rest. It has adjustable seat height, but it also has adjustable seat depth, which you just don't see in other high chairs.
Katie Ferraro (16m 28s):
All of those, the footrest, the seat height and the seat depth, they adjust without tools. That is key for saving time. As your baby grows, you're gonna need to readjust the footrest height and readjust the seat height when they get outta that baby set. All the Baby-Led Weaning height chairs, just FYI when you have them in their infant feeding set like defeat a six month old with the baby set on, you can't adjust the seat height, but you can adjust the footrest height. So you push the footrest up so that your baby's feet rest on it. But then when they become toddlers, you adjust both the seat height and the footrest height to help them get that safe seating positioning. Now the footrest of the Cybex limo three and one, this is the one that when I saw it, like I kind of freaked out. I was like, this is the coolest design. This is so smart.
Katie Ferraro (17m 7s):
Whereas the Tripp Trapp, in order to change the footrest, it has like this slat situation that requires an Allen wrench, Ugh, annoying. The Nomi has a knob, which is really cool. It has this like infinite scroll of different levels of seat and footrest you can get to, but it definitely requires two hands to do that. The Cybex limo three in one, it has this bar that's built in under the footrest and the seat that you flick with your wrist to increase or decrease the footrest height. So it also has like that infinite scroll where you can get as many different variations of seat height and footrest height to match your baby's exact height so that you can have a safe seat at all times. And what's important about this is that you can very easily get your baby into that safe seating position where their waist is at a 90 degree angle.
Katie Ferraro (17m 49s):
Their knees are at a 90 degree angle and their ankles are at a 90 degree angle. Now let's talk about price. The three in one baseline is 350 US dollars. This is in December 20, 24 prices. So it comes standard with the tray and with the baby set. So at $350, this chair is slightly more than the Tripp Trapp. So if you buy the Tripp Trapp with the tray, that nets out to around $310. It's slightly less than the Nomi. 'cause if you buy the Nomi with the tray, that's three 90 and it's way more than the Mockingbird High chair, which is $230 that comes with the tray. Okay, so this is like in the area of Baby-Led Weaning highchair, like definitely on the higher end. Now if you're shopping those other chairs, the Tripp Trapp, if you are annoyed at the fact that the tray costs $70 extra, you can get the tray for free when you buy a Tripp Trapp or a Nomi.
Katie Ferraro (18m 36s):
So the tray is $70. Normally you can get it for free. If you go to the shoko website and you use the affiliate discount code Baby Lead. So if you like have these different chairs in your cart and you're trying to see which one you can get for cheapest, the Tripp Trapp or the Nomi, if you add those high chairs and their respective trays, put in the code baby lead, it knocks $70 off and that tray becomes free. If you're shopping The Mockingbird, I don't have a discount on the chair, but their Early Eaters dishware set, which is a $45 value. It has like a bunch of stuff for mealtime, including a silicone bib, a suction bowl, and utensils. It's really cool. That's $45 value. You can get that Early Eater's dishware set for free if you're on the Mockingbird website, which is hello mockingbird.com.
Katie Ferraro (19m 17s):
That same code baby lead, if you add the Mockingbird High Chair and the Early Eater's Dishware set, then the Early Eater's Dishware set becomes free. So you can save $45 on Mockingbird and 70 bucks on the Stoa Tripp Trapp or Nomi High shares, I don't have a deal. Sorry for the Cybex limo high share, I'll put all the links, but the Cybex one you can get on Amazon. And I have a pro tip for shopping for the Cybex limo. The price differs wildly based on the color, so I've been like checking it on Amazon with the different colors in the last couple of weeks just preparing for this episode. And I've noticed, like currently at the time of this recording, the black one is like $150 less. So I just put it on Instagram stories. I was like, if you're looking for a black high chair, this is my favorite high chair that comes in black and it's $150 cheaper right now.
Katie Ferraro (20m 2s):
It's not like for any sale or anything, it just, maybe they're discontinuing the color. Who knows The brand is, I guess I mentioned like not really keen on promoting this high chair in the us although I think they should. So I'm just a huge fan of it and wanna tell you guys about it. One drawback to the limo, there's like everything is so smart about it. And then there's this one really dumb thing on the crotch strap. So the part, the bottom part of the harness, there's like this kind of hard to remove weird like cloth cover, like the straps are easy to wipe clean, but then they put this cloth cover over it, which is just like a magnet for food to get trapped in. I eventually ended up taking it off, but like you might not think to take it off and you're like, why is this thing on there? It's just kind of strange. It, I'm sure if they redo the harness drops, they'll get rid of that. That's like literally the only thing that's a drawback about it.
Katie Ferraro (20m 43s):
So takeaways, if you're willing and interested in investing in a high quality chair, the Cybex limo three in one has the most unique design. I love that you can add on that extra learning tower for use in the toddler years. It also converts right back into a high chair like in seconds. So if you have a baby coming over and you have toddlers or you have another baby, then your toddler's in a different chair, you can turn it into a highchair. It goes back and forth between toddler chair, big care, kid chair, the learning tower in like seconds and doesn't need tools. And I think that's a really cool feature. Not to mention that if this is something you're using three times a day, it's a really, really well designed highchair. So check it out on Amazon. I'll put the links to the Cybex limo three and one as well as the other highchairs I was mentioning in their deals.
Katie Ferraro (21m 28s):
